

Location Scouting Support Program
Location scouting support for film and television productions across Edmonton and Northern Alberta.
Overview
Edmonton Screen offers support to attract guest productions to the Edmonton region by assisting to find screen-friendly locations for their projects. By actively supporting film scouting, Edmonton Screen can position the region as an attractive destination for filmmakers, fostering a thriving film industry and reaping the associated benefits. The Location Scouting Support Program offers in-person scouting or photo packages.

Program Objectives
The Location Scouting Support Program aims to increase:
- the number of productions, both local and guest, chosing to film in Edmonton and Northern Alberta
- the number of jobs in the creative industries
- investment in Alberta’s creative industries
Eligibility
Applicants
- Local and out-of-region screen media companies that are interested in locating their production to Edmonton and Northern Alberta
- Applicants must be in good standing with Edmonton Screen
Expenses
- Accommodations
- Travel within the Edmonton region
- Per diems: $60 day/attendee
- Edmonton Screen will provide a local scout to assist with finding locations, preparing photo packages and leading tour attendees
Application Information
Those seeking support for locaiton tours should submit an application at least one month prior to the desired scouting dates.
All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

- Synopsis (1000 characters max)
- Total Budget
- Total Edmonton Region Spend
- Total Filming Days
- Positions/Services that will be engaged from the Edmonton region
- Services Required (tour or photos)
- Desired Locations
- Tour Information
- Scouting Days
- Timeframe
- Tour attendees
Assessment
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following factors to determine eligibility:
- Potential economic impact for the Edmonton region
- Budget level of project
- Applicant’s track record
Other criteria may also be considered.
Process
- All applications will first be reviewed for eligibility.
- Eligible applications will then be assessed based on the criteria above.
- Funding decisions will be made based on the available funding.
Based on a variety of factors, including the number of high-quality applications, the ESIO may provide partial funding.
Reporting and Recognition
Detailed recognition and reporting requirements can be found on the funding toolkit.
Successful applicants must submit expense receipts within 30 days of scouting activities.
Applicants with overdue final reporting for this program will not be eligible for future ESIO funding until the reporting is submitted.
