Elevation Program Recipient: Colin Waugh

Edmonton Screen has selected local producer Colin Waugh as a recipient of the Elevation Program. His CBC digital series CBC On Design celebrates Canadian industrial design through thoughtful storytelling, strong creative execution, and local production.

Edmonton Screen is proud to announce Colin Waugh as a recipient of our Elevation Program. An Alberta-based commercial and film director, editor, and producer, Colin works full-time with Edmonton studio Sticks & Stones and teaches part-time at MacEwan University, mentoring emerging creatives.

Colin is the producer, director, and editor of CBC On Design, a digital series that launched on CBC Gem in August 2025.

About the series:

CBC On Design demystifies and celebrates Canadian industrial design by following creatives from across the country as they transform ideas into finished products. Each episode brings audiences inside the creative journey, highlighting how personal identity, place, and lived experience shape everyday design.

Produced in Alberta with a local creative team, the series reflects a strong commitment to craft, collaboration, and homegrown storytelling. Season one is now streaming on CBC Gem.

The series received Best Animation at the 2025 Alberta Film and Television Awards (AMPIA Rosies), along with multiple additional nominations across categories.

About Colin:

Colin Waugh brings a multidisciplinary approach to storytelling, blending documentary sensibilities with strong visual design and editorial precision. His work spans film, television, branded content, and digital series, with projects screening at festivals and receiving recognition nationally and internationally.

In addition to his production work, Colin is a sessional instructor at MacEwan University and a recipient of the Sessional Instructor Teaching Excellence Award (2025). His career includes dozens of industry honours, including multiple AMPIA Rosies, Advertising Club of Edmonton awards, a Canadian Cinema Editors award, and festival selections across Canada and abroad.

Colin’s Elevation Program support helped advance CBC On Design during a fast-moving production process, providing flexibility when it mattered most.
