About
Naila Baloch is an Edmonton based filmmaker, writer, and producer with a background in both creative storytelling and film production. She began her career with the Doha Film Institute, where she worked as a Casting Coordinator on the award-winning short film Al-Johara (2016), which received the Special Jury Award at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival and screened internationally, including at Cannes and Sarajevo. During this time, she also developed a cast database to support emerging talent in the region. Naila’s work spans short films, music videos, and experimental projects. She focuses on character driven stories that explore human relationships and psychological depth. Her recent project, Nowhere Road (2025), which she wrote, directed, and produced, was selected for and supported through the Mosquers Film Festival incubator program. She has also worked as a Production Coordinator Intern with Moving Artistry Productions Inc., contributing to a range of narrative and commercial productions in both coordination and assistant directing capacities. With a foundation in both creative and logistical aspects of filmmaking, Naila brings a balanced, detail oriented approach to her work. She is currently focused on developing visually striking, emotionally grounded films and expanding her presence in the Canadian and international film landscape.
